Saint-Lazare, the early train, and finding your guide on the platform

Our Normandy tours use the direct morning train from Paris Gare Saint-Lazare to Bayeux. The ride is about 2 hours and 20 minutes. You leave Paris before 7:00 a.m., reach Bayeux around 8:40 a.m., and find your guide waiting on the platform. The evening train leaves Bayeux at 6:40 p.m. and arrives at Saint-Lazare around 8:45 p.m.

Booking the rail through us
Choose the tour with 2nd class or 1st class rail at checkout and we book the seats. You receive e-tickets as a PDF with your voucher, usually within a day of confirmation and always the week before travel. The tickets are reserved seats on a specific train; you do not need to validate or collect anything at the station. Bring the PDF on your phone or on paper.
If you would rather book your own tickets, choose the tour-only price and wait for us to confirm the train times before you buy. Schedules shift by season and weekend, and a ticket on the wrong train means missing the guide.
First or second class
Both classes are reserved seats in a clean, non-smoking car with restrooms. First class has fewer seats per car, wider seats, and easier space for a suitcase, which matters if you are continuing on from Bayeux. Second class is fine for a day trip with a small bag. Neither includes food; buy a coffee and a croissant at Saint-Lazare before boarding, and a bottle of wine for the ride home if you like.

The morning at Saint-Lazare
Saint-Lazare is on the Right Bank at the top of the 8th arrondissement, on Metro lines 3, 12, 13, and 14 and RER E. Allow 20 minutes from a central hotel by taxi at that hour. Arrive 20 minutes before departure. Departure boards show the platform about 20 minutes before the train leaves; look for the train number on your ticket, not the destination, since the destination shown may be Cherbourg with Bayeux as a stop.
Meeting your guide
Your guide is on the platform or at the station exit in Bayeux holding a LinkParis sign. The station is small. If you do not see the guide within a few minutes, call or text 424-386-5222. On the Caen Memorial tour the meeting point is inside Caen station instead.
If you miss the train
Call or text 424-386-5222 as soon as you know. Later trains reach Bayeux mid-morning, and depending on timing we can have the guide meet you at a later stop. Missed departures are not refundable, but we will do what we can to get you into the day.
Weekends and holidays
Saturday and Sunday trains reach Bayeux later in the morning, too late for the shared tour to cover its six sites. On those days we run the tour as a private day by van or by train. Bank holidays follow the weekend schedule. Ask before you book a weekend date.
The rest of the day is described on the Normandy D-Day Tour page. For how the train side works for the wine regions, see how our day trips work.
Questions
What time is the train from Paris to Bayeux?
Before 7:00 a.m. from Gare Saint-Lazare, arriving in Bayeux around 8:40 a.m. We confirm the exact departure when you book.
Do I need to print the tickets?
No. The PDF on your phone is accepted. Print a copy if you prefer a backup.
Where does the guide meet me?
On the platform or at the exit of Bayeux station, holding a LinkParis sign.
Can I stay on in Bayeux after the tour?
Yes. Book the tour-only price, or the tour with one-way rail, and we drop you in town at the end of the day.
What if the train is delayed?
Your guide tracks the train and waits. If a delay is long, we adjust the route so you still see the main sites and make the evening train.
