Four Days in Bordeaux, Arcachon Bay and Saint-Émilion

Spend four days based in Bordeaux. You stay three nights at a 4-star hotel in the city center, see the city on your own with a 24-hour city pass, spend a full day on Arcachon Bay, and spend a morning in Saint-Émilion.

Day 1: Arrival in Bordeaux from Paris

Take the TGV from Paris Montparnasse to Bordeaux Saint-Jean. The ride takes about two hours. Check in at your 4-star hotel in the city center. Your 24-hour Bordeaux Métropole City Pass covers the tram and bus network, 20 museums and monuments, one guided city tour, and La Cité du Vin. Start it the afternoon you arrive, or save it for the free afternoon on Day 3.

Day 2: Shared Arcachon Bay Day Tour

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide at 9:00 a.m. at the Monument aux Girondins on Place des Quinconces. The tour runs by minibus with 8 guests maximum, in English and French. Climb the Dune du Pilat, the highest sand dune in Europe, and take in the bay and the Landes forest with a glass of Bordeaux white wine. Drive through the Ville d’Hiver, the 19th-century quarter of Arcachon with about 200 villas. Taste oysters or prawns with wine at a local producer, along with a local pâté. Return to Bordeaux at 3:00 p.m. The rest of the day is free.

Day 3: Shared Saint-Émilion Morning Tour

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide at 9:00 a.m. at the Monument aux Girondins. Visit a Grand Cru estate in Saint-Émilion for a tour of the property and a tasting of two or three wines. Walk the medieval village with your guide. Saint-Émilion and its vineyards have held UNESCO World Heritage status since 1999. Return to Bordeaux at 1:00 p.m. The afternoon is free.

Day 4: Departure

Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Take the train from Bordeaux Saint-Jean back to Paris. Return train times are flexible.
