Bordeaux Overnight Trip – Itinerary

Bordeaux boasts one of the most beautifully preserved historic centers in France. With centuries of winemaking tradition dating back to the 8th century, it’s a dream destination for wine aficionados. Thanks to high-speed TGV rail from Paris, you can reach Bordeaux in just two hours. Depending on the day of the week, you will arrive in Bordeaux on an early train, check in, and enjoy a full day of touring, or arrive in Bordeaux at leisure, enjoy local sights on your own, then join the small group tour the next morning.

Day 1 – Discover Bordeaux

  • Train Station Pickup & Hotel Transfer
    Upon arrival at Bordeaux St. Jean station, enjoy a convenient transfer to your four-star hotel.
  • Optional Afternoon or Day 2 Morning
    If arriving by early afternoon, consider visiting La Cité du Vin, the world’s largest wine museum (tickets not included). Then, explore the city or take a break before heading to your reserved dinner at a traditional Bordeaux restaurant (cost not included).

Full Day – Walking Food Tour & The Médoc

  • Morning:
    You will meet your group at the famous Gironde statue. Experience a historic walking tour with gourmet stops to taste the local sweet favorite, caneles, and move on to cheese and charcuterie, with wine tastes.
  • Midday:
    Lunch on your own, per guide recommendations.

  • Afternoon: Médoc Wine Region
    Experience the gorgeous countryside on a short drive to two carefully chosen estates in the famed Médoc area. Sample wines at a prestigious appellation, then visit a family-run winery. Artisan breads, cheeses, and meats accompany the tastings, offering a true taste of the region. Dropoff in central Bordeaux or hotel.

Day 2

We recommend a self-guided wine museum visit, before your train to Paris. Check out and store your bags, then make a quick Uber or walk to the Cite du Vin. Through 6 floors, you will experience the story of wine, enjoyed through interactive sensory exhibits, immersive films, and a culminating included glass of wine on the museum’s rooftop enclosed deck. Train ticket will be booked per client Day 2 agenda.
