Day Trip Itinerary: Villandry, L’Islette, and Vouvray Wine
High-speed TGV rail rockets you about 145 miles from Paris to the city of Tours in just over an hour. Your guide will meet you at the Tours tourist office for a scenic journey through the historic Loire. You’ll visit two castles and experience some of Europe’s most gorgeous formal gardens.

Visit Villandry Castle
The last Renaissance castle built in the Loire Valley, Villandry was lovingly restored in the early 1900s by American heiress Ann Coleman and her husband, Joachim Carvallo. Admire the lush gardens—famous for heirloom plants—and keep in mind this is still a beloved family home occupied by Carvallo heirs.

Visit L’Islette Castle
Set on a picturesque island in the Indre River, L’Islette is smaller in scale, offering an intimate look at château living. Stroll each room, meet the resident family, and cap your tour with an apéritif and snacks by the riverside.
A short stop back in Tours allows time for an extra snack if desired.

Wine Tasting in the Vouvray Region
Enjoy an afternoon at a Vouvray estate, touring the vineyards and sipping regional wines, including a visit to a 10th-century limestone cave. More tastings, plus local cheeses, await—an unforgettable treat for wine lovers!
